| Wilderness Survival Weekend (November 18-20, 2011) |
The November weekend outing was spent at Camp Rodney on the Chesapeake Bay. Scouts worked on the Wilderness Survival Merit Badge,
which included spending one night sleeping in a shelter they built on their own using the native locally available materials (trees, branches, leaves, etc.).

| Troop 883 Practices Orienteering (October 22, 2011) |
Scouts and adults from Troop 883 met at the Patapsco Valley State Park McKeldin Area on Saturday, October 22nd to practice
Orienteering skills in preparation for an upcoming outing where over 600 scouts will be participating in an Orienteering competition.
It was a typically nice fall Maryland day and a good one to be out in the woods hiking and learning - learning both how to orienteer as well
as how to avoid the flying frisbees from the disc golf players at the park. Information on the park is available at the following site:

| Troop 883 Goes on a 28 Mile Bike Ride (September 25, 2011) |
Scouts and adults from Troop 883 went on a 28 mile bike ride on the Baltimore to Annapolis Rail trail on Sunday afternoon, September 25th. The weather was overcast most of the
day but the rain held off long enough for the ride to be completed without anyone getting wet. Information on the bike trail is available at the following site:

| Troop 883 Crew Back from Philmont (July 28, 2011 to August 10, 2011) |
A nine person crew from Troop 883 is back from Philmont Scout Ranch, New Mexico. They backpacked nearly 80 miles, ascended Philmont's fabled Tooth of Time and Mt. Baldy peaks,
visited over 10 different camps, encountered a skunk, 2 bear, many mule deer and a profoundly large number of mini bear (chipmunks and squirrels). Activities included
rock climbing/rapelling, blackpowder gun shooting, tomahawk throwing, goat milking, a gold mine tour, and many other fun events. The Trek 22 itinerary is available at the
